SCENES FROM SUNRISE - A DOCUMENTARY

In 2006, while earning my M.A. in Communication from Barry University, I swapped a traditional capstone for a video camera and a curious spirit. I traveled up the East Coast and across the country, collecting stories and discovering the beautiful truth that, despite our differences in age and culture, we are far more alike than we are different.
BIG STUFF - SUMMER 2011
 
The summer winds blew us down from Florida to Mexico, where the weather is even hotter and the drinks are colder. While making this video in surf paradise Puerto Escondido I hadn't yet realized that I would never teach students the art of video production again. Just like the decade had just switched, so did my career. And while I never looked back, only forward, I will always have nostalgia for this surf saga--my most favorite filmed and edited.

PHOTO MAGIC - SUMMER 2013 

 

This may be my most collaborative video, born from one of our most collaborative surf trips. We headed south with three friends, picked up another along the way, and somehow ended up with a crew of surfers, photographers, and videographers all contributing their own style to the adventure. Everyone brought something different to the mix--their surfing, their creativity, and their sense of fun. While I may have held the camera, this story was shaped by all of us. And it remains one of my favorite journeys ever captured.
